Meet Kobusinge Charity
My name is Balinda, and I am a former refugee from the Congo, now living in Spokane, Washington. My journey to the United States was long and filled with hardship, but it shaped me into who I am today.
Growing up as a refugee in Uganda, life was a constant struggle. Education was a privilege few could afford, and basic hygiene was often neglected due to lack of resources. Illnesses spread quickly, and many children never got the chance to grow up healthy or pursue their dreams.
School, when it was available, was a beacon of hope. For me, education was more than just learning how to read or write; it was a lifeline—a glimpse of a future where I could break free from the cycle of poverty and insecurity. Yet, attending school was difficult. Supplies were scarce, classrooms overcrowded, and hygiene facilities almost nonexistent.
When I resettled in the United States, I carried those memories with me. I knew how critical education and hygiene were to a child's well-being and future. That’s why I decided to dedicate my efforts to helping children in similar situations, especially those in slum areas of Uganda through Kobusinge Charity. Providing school supplies and hygiene essentials may seem like small gestures, but for these children, it is the difference between hopelessness and opportunity.
I understand their struggles because I lived them. I know what it feels like to be overlooked and to struggle for basic necessities. It is this live experience that drives my passion to ensure no child is left behind. Every child deserves a chance to learn, to stay healthy, and to dream.
Through Kobusinge Charity, My wife and I are committed to making a difference. My journey as a refugee to Spokane, Washington has taught me the value of resilience, compassion, and giving back. It’s my hope that my efforts can inspire others to extend a helping hand, and together, we can create a better future for those who need it most.
